Purpleheart wood is a strong, durable wood, grown from Mexico to Brazil. It’s deep purple color quickly brightens when freshly cut then darkens over time. It is an excellent wood for long-lasting chopsticks. They should be hand-washed then rubbed with mineral oil, beeswax or cutting board conditioner to stay looking fresh.
Graduation season has brought a number of custom orders for commemoration gifts.
My enthusiastic start on yardwork last week has been sapped by the incoming heat. So, the going has been slow. It is a constant battle. Last year was our hottest summer on record, but will probably (and sadly) be the coolest summer we’ll ever see again, thanks to climate change. We must adapt.
My seamstress has retired from making my drawstring gift bags. Her plate is more than full with family, regular job and other pursuits.
So, if you or someone you know is interested in making these for me, please leave contact info in the comments below. I will send the specs and my expectations for a quote.
With a bit of hounding, USPS has come through on a few slow moving packages to patient customers. I do hope the “reorganizing and streamlining”, initiated by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, is a temporary state of chaos and not a foreshadowing of things to come. I have had such good luck with them for the last 16+ years.
Sneak Peeks
Thanks for checking in. Here’s a view of this week’s Etsy orders.
For customers, this should ease your mind that your order is quite important to me and being attended to, not sitting on a clipboard or in the to-do pile. Also, if your order is being sent as a gift to a recipient at another address, you get to see it before they do.
For subscribers, this will give you an idea of the physical things I create and ship worldwide. They keep me sane and help me find my peace.
Every order is carved individually by hand, in the order that they are received. Some weeks are busier than others. I usually carve and ship within 3 to 5 business days.
If you are enjoying what you see… I like it hot and black. 😉

Love the sneak peek video, my man!
