On the Workbench…
I received the first batch of chopsticks boxes from Daniel. A quick peek inside looks promising. I will spend the next few days matching lids to boxes, fine sanding and finishing them with the same oil bath and polish that I use for my chopsticks. I should have some Etsy listings for them ready to go by Monday.
Proper wooden gift boxes for my chopsticks have been a quest of mine for a few years now. As shop time allowed, I’ve puttered together possible options only to discover that the rising and setting of the sun does not allow me to do everything myself.
Therefore, I posted my required specs on my Florida Woodworkers Facebook group to find help and got several possible makers to respond. Thanks to the group for their helpful suggestions and the 5 or 6 makers that submitted samples.
Daniel at DC Carves in Palm Bay approached me with the enthusiasm, simplicity and price point that I was looking for. So, I placed an initial order for 50 boxes in Cherry, Walnut and Maple woods, my most popular chopsticks woods. The lasered logos on the box lids were a nice touch that I was not able to do “in house”. Thank you Daniel. I hope to continue to do business with your busy shop.
Sneak Peeks
Thanks for checking in. Here’s a view of this week’s Etsy orders.
For customers, this should ease your mind that your order is quite important to me and being attended to, not sitting on a clipboard or in the to-do pile. Also, if your order is being sent as a gift to a recipient at another address, you get to see it before they do.
For subscribers, this will give you an idea of the physical things I create and ship worldwide. They keep me sane and help me find my peace.
Every order is carved individually by hand, in the order that they are received. Some weeks are busier than others. I usually carve and ship within 3 to 5 business days.
If you are enjoying what you see… I like it hot and black. 😉
