On the Workbench…
Even after 40+ years of doing these, the occasional mistake occurs. This happens when I select a wood different than the client wanted.
Or, I may have added or omitted a letter (there are at least 11 spellings of the name CHRIS alone). Some call it misspelling.
I often get a new wood and need to make samples.
Sometimes a name calls out to me from the wood itself, just wanting to exist.
Whatever the reason, I cannot bring myself to toss any but the smallest remnants of my woodstuff. Therefore, my workbench becomes overwhelmed with wood bits in varying degrees of un-doneness. This week, I finished some of these mistakes and listed them at a discount in the “Ready-Made” sections of my Etsy shop.
I now have three (3) “Ready-Made” sections in my Etsy shop. You can search to see if I have a particular name by entering it in my shop’s search box.
Sneak Peeks
Thanks for checking in on me. Here are photos of this week’s orders, received in my DustyNewt Etsy shop. You can also CLICK on a photo to go to the Etsy listing for it.
I try to always send a Sneak Peek to my clients on Etsy when their pieces are ready.
For customers, this should ease your mind that your order is quite important to me and being attended to, not sitting on a digital clipboard or in the to-do stack. Also, if your order is being sent as a gift to a recipient at another address, you get to see it before they do.
For subscribers, this will give you an idea of the physical things I create and ship worldwide, when I am not writing or ripping about with household chores. They keep me sane, out of trouble and help me find my peace.
This weeks destinations were: Rapid City, SD ~ North Charleston, SC ~ Wayzata, MN ~ Steinhausen, Switzerland ~ Denver, CO ~ Woodland Hills, CA ~ Albuquerque, NM ~ Birmingham, AL ~ Brunswick, ME ~ Coldwater, OH.
Orders are carved individually by hand, in the order that they are received. Some weeks are busier than others. I usually carve and ship within 3 to 5 business days.
Peace in Wood ~ Scott
If you are enjoying what you see… I like it hot and black. 😉
