Letter Class: Four Pairs of Chopsticks
Today I have an order for four pairs of Cherry wood name chopsticks, to be shipped to Bridgeman Downs, Australia.
I start with eight billets of 3/8” inch Cherry wood, 8 1/2” inches long. When ripping these to rough size, I take pains to keep “adjacent” pairs together so that they match, color- and grain-wise, when finished.
Here is a “spoiler” pic…
The following video is in “real” time and longish (over 24 minutes). For potential name carvers out there, it gives raw and unedited idea of what it takes to produce quality utensils/mementos.
I do apologize for the shoulder/arm views while drilling holes (they are “safe-for-work”, not long, and you can always skip forward). Time does not allow for editing this week. Hopefully, I will figure out a quicker way to monkey with future videos.
Also, I will work on my “spiel” while carving. Thank god for “Mute” buttons!
